Dear John
Are you completely sure the coil is bad?.
Here is a quick way to test that coil, remove insulated wire from the points attach the positive wire from the coil, attach it to the positive side of the battery take a good clean spark plug with the gap set at .060 inchs to .080 and get your spark plug wire and attach it and lay it on the head .Where this gap can be seen now take a test lead from negitive post of your battery. and strick the aluminum backing. And the plate of your mag and you should get a puple spark right away.
Test number 2 get a big screw driver bring it near the armiture mag of sheet mental rivetted together and repeat the test.
If the armiture gets very magnetic as you touch the wire she is proubly good.
Check all the electrical connections make sure they are clean enough to eat off of.Brush them with a brush ,scraping them with a pocket knive and check the air gap which is the distance between the armiture and the magnets in the fly wheel. There should be enough room to slide two bussiness cards between them.
If you are still haveing trouble don't hesitate cleaning the breaker points. With very fine sand paper.
Remove any sand from the points with a clean piece of cloth to ensure power moveing across it.
Do you know wheather or not the condenser is still good try subituting a good one for the old one.
If you get a satsifactory spark you are ready to put the flywheel back on.Be sure to use a new diecast key, slide the flywheel over the taper and when the key tells you are in time reinstall the nut and tighten it with a tourque wrench to guarante a good tight fit.
If the engine fires once and won't repeat fire at all. Pull the flywheel pick out diecast key'and examine it for diagonal shears marks cause by movement of the crank shaft and flywheel assembly.
Never reuse a key in this condition look for the reason it happened. Possibly not enough tourque in assembly.

Sincerley
