your engine was made in early 1947 and was rated at 2hp. the BM(B mareine) and BMT(B maroine with transmition) were the 2 main B series mareine engines briggs made others include BLM BMP BHM BLMT and BHMT(L=lightweight, H=highspeed) a BP is a B with flange mounts. any of the above mentioned models either had a forward/referse trans when it left briggs, or could have been bolted to one. all B seeries had air cleaners whem they left the factory, most had an oilbath, but some had a speical mareine style cleaner. briggs painted all of there engines ecpt verry early engines black, thoe the companies that bought them probally had some painted other colors to mach their equiptment.Im glad to see another one saved
